Fix Windows Xp Kernal32.dll Error

Problem :

I tried to put my computer to a recent restore point and now Windows will not load. I get an error message that says STOP: c0000135{unable to locate component} This application failed to start because KERNEL32.dll was not found. I have tried to open windows in safe mode and still get the same message. What can I do now?


Solution :

Restart computer with Windows XP disc boot to it, when you get to page where it says repair press the R key.

This is what you should see 1: C:\ WINDOWS press the 1 key

You will be asked for administrator password type it in, if you did not create one leave blank. Hit enter

Where you see C:\WINDOWS>

add this. map ( This will tell what the drive letter is for your DVD or CD-ROM. ) Put the answer in the front of my example if is not D:\ change.

Now put in. copy D:\i386\kernel32.dl_ C:\windows\system32

Should look like this C:\WINDOWS>copy D:\i386\kernel32.dl_ C:\windows\system32

should say 1 file copied. Now tpye exit hit enter to restart computer
